Addressing Health Equity in Evaluation Efforts

A Good Idea

Description

The Boston Public Health Commission has implemented an evaluation plan to gauge their impact in reducing health inequities. The plan includes requiring partners to routinely collect data on race/ethnicity, age, gender, and zip code; increasing the sample size for the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System survey to ensure sufficient power to assess neighborhood-level changes over time; and designing a plan to assess the overall effect of selected strategies and to identify areas where additional efforts may be needed to enhance intervention effects in underserved communities.
