Description
The Eye Care Community Outreach (ECCO) program is a unique program created by Indiana University's School of Optometry and School of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology with collaborative efforts from many other community organizations to address the growing need for vision health care services for medically underserved individuals. The Eye Care Community Outreach program offers vision screenings at no cost to individuals through participating eye care professionals. The program focuses not only on vision but social/medical circumstances of the individual, offering referrals to social services, access to healthcare and insurance and Individual follow-up.
Goal / Mission
ECCO seeks to improve access to vision health care services for uninsured and low-income individuals.
Results / Accomplishments
ECCO serves 500-1000 residents of Marion County and its surrounding counties every year.
