Students Against Violence Everywhere

An Effective Practice

Description

The mission of Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) is to decrease violence in schools and communities by promoting meaningful student involvement, education and service opportunities. SAVE targets students attending schools throughout the United States.

In elementary schools, SAVE is implemented as a curriculum that teaches school safety information, conflict management, weapons safety, communication, and respect towards others. In middle school similar topics are introduced and crime prevention is emphasized. Also, service projects are introduced, including school or community beautification and blood drives. At the high school level, SAVE is established as an extra-curricular club and service projects are the main focus. SAVE is also implemented with college students and at community centers.
